The Ocemida NEXIS and the PIURIFY Hydrogenator are both portable SPE/PEM hydrogen water bottles, both tested by the same lab, and both hold the same amount of water. That makes this an unusually clean comparison: same lab, same method, same 280 mL (9.5 oz) of water. The differences come down to how much hydrogen each one makes in a standard cycle, how easy each one is to keep clean, and what you pay.
Quick verdict
The Ocemida Nexis makes 8,740 PPB of hydrogen in one 10-minute cycle, 2.1 times the PIURIFY Hydrogenator's 4,090 PPB in the same amount of water, with both measured by H2 Analytics. It is also built to be cleaned, with an open electrode and a wide mouth. The PIURIFY costs $69 less.

10-Minute Results: 8,740 vs 4,090 PPB
Both bottles were tested by H2 Analytics in Henderson, Nevada, using static headspace gas chromatography. Here is what each report shows at each run time.
Results in PPB (parts per billion), bars scaled to 10,000 PPB. Nexis: H2 Analytics report H2AR-260616-1, 250 mL fill. PIURIFY: H2 Analytics report H2AR-240821-1, filled to the max line (about 280 mL). The Nexis was not tested beyond 10 minutes. A second lab, H2HUBB, measured the Nexis at 7,700 PPB after 10 minutes using a Unisense microsensor.
Why does 10 minutes matter? It is the standard cycle, the one you will use every day. And because hydrogen escapes as you pour, while you drink and on the way through your digestive tract, a higher starting concentration leaves more of it after those losses. That is why we look for at least 6,000 PPB in one 10-minute cycle. The Nexis clears that bar in 10 minutes; the PIURIFY Hydrogenator only passes it after 30. Our ranking of the best hydrogen water bottles explains the benchmark in full.
Same Bottle Size, Different Label
The two bottles are exactly the same size and hold exactly the same water. The PIURIFY Hydrogenator is sold as a 10 oz bottle, but its own H2 Analytics report fills it to the max line at about 280 mL. That is 9.5 oz, exactly what the Nexis holds.
280 mL is 9.47 oz. PIURIFY fill from its own lab report, filled to the max line; we measured the same.

Same height, same 280 mL (9.5 oz) of water to the max line.
Because the two bottles hold the same water, concentration compares directly with dose. Twice the PPB in the same 280 mL means about twice the hydrogen in every bottle you drink.

Design, Piece by Piece
Lab results tell you what a bottle does on day one. The design decides what it is like to drink from, clean and live with for years. Here is each part, side by side.
1. Spout: how easily it drinks
You drink from the spout several times a day, and you want the full 280 mL (9.5 oz) down quickly, before hydrogen escapes. A smaller spout lets water flow freely without tipping the bottle far back.

Spout size: PIURIFY Hydrogenator and Ocemida Nexis
2. Cap seal: where water hides
Every hydrogen bottle cap has a rubber seal, and the seal has to hold pressure through every cycle. What matters day to day is how much water it holds after you rinse it. On the PIURIFY Hydrogenator, the seal sits in deeper cavities that trap more water than the Nexis cap. Water trapped in tight spaces dries slowly, and that is where mold can start.

Both caps photographed after the same rinse. The PIURIFY seal cavities hold more water.
PIURIFY's higher figures also depend on that cap holding pressure for 20 to 30 minutes, and PIURIFY's own buying guide notes that a poor seal lets the hydrogen escape. Whatever bottle you own, take the seal out and let it dry after washing.
3. Bottle: opening and inside corners
The Nexis bottle has a wide opening and rounded inside corners, so a brush reaches every surface and there are no edges for residue to collect in. The PIURIFY Hydrogenator's narrow neck makes it hard to reach the bottom of the bottle, and harder still to reach the electrode for descaling every 2 to 4 weeks.

4. Electrode: star-reinforced vs open
The PIURIFY Hydrogenator's electrode is crossed by star-shaped supports. The area they cover cannot take part in electrolysis, and their corners trap mineral scale that a rinse will not reach. The Nexis electrode is open-face with tapered holes, with nothing covering the active surface.

The star-shaped supports on the PIURIFY Hydrogenator cover part of the electrode. The Nexis electrode is open and easy to clean.
5. Membrane: exposed vs protected
The membrane is the part most likely to wear out. Look through the electrode holes and the difference is clear. On the PIURIFY Hydrogenator, the membrane is exposed and sits in your drinking water on every cycle. On the Nexis, a platinum-iridium felt layer covers it, so it lasts longer and survives cleaning far better.

What They Have in Common
The two bottles share a lot. Both use SPE/PEM electrolysis, both were tested by H2 Analytics, and they are exactly the same size and hold exactly the same water. Three more things they share:
Oxygen vent at the base
Both bottles separate the oxygen made during electrolysis from your drinking water and release it through a vent at the bottom of the base.

Both bottles vent oxygen through the base, away from the water you drink.
Rubber-protected USB-C port
Both charge over USB-C, and both cover the port with a rubber cap to keep water out.

Both bottles charge over USB-C behind a rubber cover. Nexis on the right
Pressure relief valve in the cap
Both caps have a pressure relief valve that lets extra gas out during a cycle.
What the Extra $69 Buys
The PIURIFY Hydrogenator costs $129.99 and the Nexis $199. Here is what the difference gets you, measured in hydrogen:
8,740 PPB vs 4,090 PPB in the same 280 mL (9.5 oz) of water. That works out to 44 PPB per dollar for the Nexis and 31 for the PIURIFY.
On top of the output, the extra cost covers a metal housing, a protected membrane, an electrode and opening built for quick cleaning, a second independent lab report, replacement parts sold directly, and support by chat, email, phone and text from a Canadian company in business since 2019.
Which Should You Choose?
- Choose the Ocemida Nexis if you want at least 6,000 PPB from one 10-minute cycle, a bottle you can clean in minutes, and a metal housing. It makes 8,740 PPB in 10 minutes, confirmed by two labs.
- Choose the PIURIFY Hydrogenator if the lowest price is what matters most, and you accept 4,090 PPB in 10 minutes and a design that is harder to clean.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Ocemida Nexis better than the PIURIFY Hydrogenator?
On hydrogen output and cleaning, yes. The Nexis makes 8,740 PPB in one 10-minute cycle against the PIURIFY Hydrogenator's 4,090 PPB, both measured by H2 Analytics in the same 280 mL (9.5 oz) of water. It also has an open electrode and a wide mouth for easy cleaning. The PIURIFY costs $69 less.
How much hydrogen does the PIURIFY Hydrogenator make in 10 minutes?
4,090 PPB, according to H2 Analytics report H2AR-240821-1. The same report lists 5,810 PPB at 20 minutes and 6,300 PPB at 30 minutes. The Nexis makes 8,740 PPB in 10 minutes.
How much hydrogen does the Ocemida Nexis make in 10 minutes?
8,740 PPB, measured by H2 Analytics using gas chromatography (report H2AR-260616-1), and 7,700 PPB measured by H2HUBB using a Unisense microsensor. Both reports are published.
Does the PIURIFY Hydrogenator hold 10 oz?
Its own H2 Analytics report fills it to the max line at about 280 mL, which is 9.5 oz. The two bottles are exactly the same size and hold the same water. It is sold as a 10 oz bottle.
Is PIURIFY's 6,300 PPB comparable to the Nexis's 8,740 PPB?
No. PIURIFY's 6,300 PPB takes 30 minutes; the Nexis's 8,740 PPB takes 10. Compared at the same 10 minutes, it is 4,090 PPB against 8,740 PPB.
Which is easier to clean, the Nexis or the PIURIFY Hydrogenator?
The Nexis. It has an open-face electrode with nothing covering the active surface, a protected membrane, and a wide opening with rounded inside corners that a brush reaches easily. The PIURIFY Hydrogenator has a star-reinforced electrode whose corners trap scale, an exposed membrane, a narrow neck, and cap seal cavities that hold more water after rinsing.
Can mold grow in a hydrogen water bottle cap?
Anywhere water sits after rinsing can grow mold, and the cap seal is the most likely spot. Seals that sit in deep cavities, like the PIURIFY Hydrogenator's, trap more water than the Nexis cap. Whatever bottle you own, take the seal out and let it dry after washing.
Do both bottles separate oxygen from the water?
Yes. Both use SPE/PEM electrolysis and release the oxygen through a vent at the bottom of the base, away from the water you drink. Both also have a rubber-protected USB-C port and a pressure relief valve in the cap.
Which has the better warranty and returns?
Both offer a lifetime limited warranty and a 60-day return window. The Nexis charges a 10% fee on opened returns against PIURIFY's 15%, and Ocemida sells replacement parts directly. PIURIFY sends a prepaid return label and deducts its cost from the refund; with the Nexis, you arrange return shipping so you have more control on that cost.
Why does the Nexis cost more?
More advanced technology - Makes 114% more hydrogen in a 10-minute cycle: 44 PPB per dollar against 31. The price also covers a metal housing, a protected membrane, a design built for quick cleaning and a second independent lab report.
