The Ocemida Nexis and the EVOLV H2GO are both compact SPE/PEM hydrogen water bottles, and both brands publish lab reports. That makes the comparison straightforward: how much hydrogen each makes in a standard 10-minute cycle, how much water each holds, and how easy each one is to keep clean.

Quick verdict

The Ocemida Nexis makes 8,740 PPB in one 10-minute cycle (H2 Analytics), 75% more than the 5,000 PPB EVOLV lists for the H2GO at 10 minutes. It also holds more water, so one Nexis bottle carries about twice the hydrogen. The Nexis is built to be cleaned, with a round bottle, a wide opening and an open electrode, where the EVOLV has a narrow bottle and a star-reinforced electrode. It comes with a lifetime limited warranty against EVOLV's 13 months. The EVOLV costs less, at $99 on its current sale.

  • 10-minute result: Nexis 8,740 PPB · EVOLV 5,000 PPB
  • Water: Nexis 280 mL (9.5 oz) · EVOLV 230 mL (7.8 oz)
  • Hydrogen per bottle: Nexis about 2.4 mg · EVOLV about 1.2 mg at best

In the same 10 minutes, the Nexis makes 75% more hydrogen. It clears 6,000 PPB; the EVOLV H2GO does not reach it, even at its highest cited figure of 5,420 PPB.

Results in PPB (parts per billion), bars scaled to 10,000 PPB. Nexis: H2 Analytics report H2AR-260616-1, 250 mL fill; a second lab, H2HUBB, measured 7,700 PPB at 10 minutes. EVOLV H2GO: 5- and 10-minute figures as listed on EVOLV's product page; the 5.42 PPM (5,420 PPB) figure is cited on the same page as "lab-verified," with no cycle length stated.

Why does this matter? Hydrogen escapes as you pour, while you drink and on the way through your digestive tract, so a higher starting concentration leaves more after those losses. That is why we look for at least 6,000 PPB in one 10-minute cycle. Our ranking of the best hydrogen water bottles explains the benchmark in full.

More Water, Twice the Hydrogen per Bottle

The Nexis holds 280 mL (9.5 oz) of water. The EVOLV H2GO holds 230 mL (7.8 oz). Higher concentration in more water adds up quickly: the amount of hydrogen you drink is concentration multiplied by volume.

2.4 mg Hydrogen in one full Nexis bottle, 10 minutes
1.2 mg EVOLV H2GO at its highest cited figure

Nexis: 8,740 PPB × 280 mL. EVOLV: 5,420 PPB × 230 mL. At EVOLV's 10-minute figure of 5,000 PPB, it is about 1.15 mg.

Drink one Nexis bottle and you get about the same hydrogen as two full EVOLV bottles, with one fewer refill and one fewer 10-minute wait.

Cleaning: Narrow Bottle, Star-Reinforced Electrode

Every hydrogen bottle needs descaling with a mild citric acid solution every 2 to 4 weeks, and the inside of the bottle needs a proper wash. Scale left on the electrode lowers output over time, so how easily you can reach inside matters for as long as you own the bottle. This is where the two designs differ most.

Bottle and opening. The Nexis bottle is round, with a wide opening and rounded inside corners. A brush reaches the bottom, the sides and the electrode in one pass, and there are no corners for residue to collect in. The EVOLV H2GO is a narrow bottle, so reaching the bottom and the electrode takes a slim brush and more effort, and that is the kind of job people skip.

A brush reaches every inside surface of the Nexis. The narrow EVOLV H2GO is harder to reach into.

Electrode. The EVOLV H2GO's electrode is crossed by star-shaped supports. Their corners trap mineral scale that a rinse will not reach, which is even harder to get at through a narrow bottle. The Nexis electrode is open-face with tapered holes, with nothing covering the active surface.

The star-shaped support on the EVOLV H2GO covers part of the electrode. The Nexis electrode is open.

Membrane. The membrane is the part most likely to wear out. In the Nexis, a platinum-iridium felt layer separates it from your water, so it lasts longer and survives cleaning better.

Warranty and Returns

The Nexis comes with a lifetime limited warranty, replacement parts sold directly, and support by chat, email, phone and text. The EVOLV H2GO comes with a 13-month manufacturer's warranty.

On returns, the Nexis has a 60-day window (30 days in Europe); you arrange return shipping, and opened returns carry a 10% fee. EVOLV offers a 45-day money-back guarantee; read its refund policy for the conditions.

What the Extra $100 Buys

EVOLV lists the H2GO at $99 on its current sale; the same page also shows it at $199. At $199, the two cost the same. At the $99 sale price, here is what the Nexis's extra $100 gets you:
