Dr. Water published a comparison of their bottles against ours. Fair game, so here is ours. The difference is that every number below is labelled with where it came from, and where a figure could not be verified we say so instead of estimating.
If you have read elsewhere that Dr. Water wins on water volume, skip to the volume section. A bigger bottle does not give you more hydrogen, and both companies' own test reports show why.

Summary of findings
Verified concentration. The Ocemida Nexis was measured at 7.70 ppm on a 10 minute cycle by H2HUBB, which confirmed the claim and awarded its Seal of Approval. The same laboratory measured the Dr. Water HydroStanley 32oz at 1.10 ppm on a 10 minute cycle, and that report reads: claimed H2 mg/L (ppm) confirmed, no.
Hydrogen delivered per cycle. The Nexis delivers about 2.08 mg of dissolved hydrogen per 270 ml bottle. The HydroStanley delivers about 0.99 mg per 900 ml fill at its tested 10 minute concentration. The larger bottle holds 3.3 times the water and roughly half the hydrogen.
Volume is not a hydrogen specification. Bottle capacity determines how much water you carry, not how much hydrogen you receive. A generator produces a broadly fixed amount of gas per cycle, so spreading that gas through more water lowers the concentration. If you want more hydrogen from a small bottle, you run another cycle. If you want more water from a large bottle, you cannot generate the hydrogen you are missing.
Certification. Ocemida publishes Eurofins PFAS testing, SGS inspection, and IHSA certification for the Omni, model OCE-5000 PRO. ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are management system standards that measure neither hydrogen output nor water safety, and the FDA does not approve water bottle materials.
Warranty. Ocemida offers a lifetime limited warranty on select models, with repair centres in the United States, Canada and Europe. Dr. Water offers a 1 year limited warranty with 3 year extended coverage sold separately.
Independent reviews. On Trustpilot, accessed July 29th 2026, Ocemida holds 4.5 out of 5 across 49 reviews and Dr. Water holds 3.3 out of 5 across 51 reviews.
Battery. The HydroStanley carries the larger cell at a claimed 4,000 mAh against the Nexis at a measured 1,650 mAh. We have not bench tested their unit, so we make no claim about their 50 cycle figure.

To be fair to them, the same report found the bottle still cleared H2HUBB's therapeutic threshold and recommended the 10 minute cycle. The bottle works. It is the advertised number that did not survive testing.

Verdict: tested by the same independent laboratory on an identical 10 minute cycle, the Ocemida Nexis measured seven times the dissolved hydrogen of the Dr. Water HydroStanley, and only one of the two advertised numbers was confirmed.
Why our number is above the usual ceiling
A fair question, and one we would rather answer than have you wonder about.
Water at ordinary air pressure holds roughly 1.6 ppm of hydrogen. The Nexis reads higher because H2HUBB classifies it as a high pressure system: a sealed bottle builds pressure in the headspace during generation, which lets the water carry more dissolved gas than an open glass could. Once you open the cap it begins to come back out, which is why we tell you to drink it soon after the cycle rather than hours later. Dr. Water's bottle is a 32 oz tumbler with a straw, tested with the straw removed, and it measured close to that ordinary ceiling. That is a design difference, not a verdict on their engineering.
Volume, and why a bigger bottle is not more hydrogen
This is the one comparison where Dr. Water is genuinely ahead on the spec sheet, and it is also the one where the spec sheet is measuring the wrong thing. Their bottle holds more water. It does not deliver more hydrogen.
A hydrogen generator produces a broadly fixed amount of gas per cycle, set by electrode area, current and run time. It does not produce more gas because you poured in more water. Put that same output into three times the water and the concentration falls by roughly the same factor, because concentration is gas divided by volume. This is not a criticism of Dr. Water's engineering. It is the arithmetic that applies to every hydrogen bottle on the market, including ours, and it is why capacity and concentration pull against each other rather than adding up.

Method: concentration in mg per litre multiplied by the volume tested in that same report. Applied to the Nexis this produces 2.08 mg, which matches the dose figure H2HUBB printed, so the same arithmetic is applied to both bottles.
Verdict: the Nexis delivers roughly twice the hydrogen per cycle from one third of the water. To match a single 10 minute Nexis bottle, a HydroStanley would need about 1.9 litres of water and two full generation cycles.
Three more things large capacity works against
- Hydrogen leaves faster than you can drink a litre. Dissolved H2 begins escaping the moment the seal is broken. A 270 ml bottle is finished within a minute or two of the cycle ending, close to the concentration that was measured. A litre sipped through a straw over an afternoon is mostly ordinary water by the last third, whatever it read at the start.
- A straw and a wide mouth are outgassing paths. H2HUBB tested the HydroStanley with the straw removed. In normal use the straw stays in, and every opening in a bottle is somewhere for the gas to leave.
- The small bottle's limitation is trivially fixable, the large bottle's is not. If you want a second dose, you refill and press the button again. If you want a higher concentration from a litre of water, there is nothing you can press.
Verdict: capacity is a hydration convenience feature. If you want to carry a litre of water, buy a litre bottle. If you want a hydrogen dose, the number that matters is milligrams of H2 per cycle, not millilitres of water per bottle.

Verdict: Dr. Water carries the larger cell, and a larger bottle needs one. We publish the Nexis figure because we measured it, and we publish no cycle count for a bottle we have not tested.

FDA approved materials: the FDA does not approve materials. It defines food contact compliance. No manufacturer holds an FDA approval for a water bottle.
PFAS: no published test result found.
Verdict: Ocemida's certifications are product and material tests with reports you can open. Dr. Water's are company process standards, plus one claim, FDA approved materials, that no water bottle manufacturer is able to hold.

So which one should you buy
If what you are buying is a hydrogen dose, the Nexis delivers roughly twice as much of it per cycle, its number was confirmed by an independent laboratory, and every figure on this page is attached to a report you can open and read. If what you want is a litre of water in one hand, buy a litre bottle, and understand that you are buying capacity rather than concentration. Those are two different purchases, and only one of them is about hydrogen.
How we put this together
Both H2HUBB reports are public documents produced by a laboratory neither company owns. Note that the two tests used different instruments: a Unisense microsensor for the Nexis, and the H2Blue titration method for the HydroStanley. H2HUBB chose the method in each case, not us.
The per cycle dose figures are arithmetic, not a separate test: concentration in mg per litre multiplied by the water volume stated in that same report. We checked the method against the Nexis report, where H2HUBB printed the dose itself, and the arithmetic matched at 2.08 mg. We then applied it unchanged to the HydroStanley.
Every Dr. Water figure quoted here comes from drwater.store or from H2HUBB, with screenshots kept on file. We did not buy and bench test their battery, so we have made no claim about it. Where their site gives more than one number, we have listed all of them rather than choosing.
Our own figures come from named third-party laboratories with linked reports, or from our own bench testing, and each is labelled so you can tell which is which. Anything we could not verify is marked as unverified rather than estimated.

H2 Analytics separately measured 8.74 ppm by gas chromatography in report H2AR-260616-1. Higher advertised figures from other brands are frequently unverified: H2HUBB measured the Dr. Water HydroStanley at 1.10 ppm on a 10 minute cycle against a 6,000 ppb claim, and recorded the claim as not confirmed.
Is Ocemida or Dr. Water better for hydrogen output?
Ocemida, on both measures that matter. Tested by the same independent laboratory on the same 10 minute cycle length, the Nexis measured 7.70 ppm against the HydroStanley's 1.10 ppm, and delivered about twice the hydrogen per cycle despite holding one third of the water. Dr. Water's bottle holds more water, which is a hydration advantage rather than a hydrogen one.
Does a higher price mean higher hydrogen output?
No. Price does not predict measured hydrogen output in either direction. The only reliable indicator is whether the manufacturer publishes a third-party test report with a retrievable report number, and whether that report states the claimed concentration was confirmed.

How long does hydrogen stay in the water?
Dissolved hydrogen starts escaping as soon as the bottle is opened, and faster from a bottle with a straw or a wide mouth. Drink it within a few minutes of the cycle finishing. This is one practical reason a small bottle finished quickly can deliver more of its measured hydrogen than a large one sipped over an afternoon.
